The Purpose of Adventure Therapy

The District Recovery Community integrates adventure therapy into our clients’ lives. Adventure, camaraderie and character building is instrumental in early recovery. By employing an adventure-based experience, The District allows residents the opportunity to find hobbies and identify what they are passionate about. This is something they will carry with them far beyond their stay at The District Recovery Community.

What Adventure Therapy Looks Like

The District residents have enjoyed some very memorable experiences in the past, and we plan to continue to create these organic and team-building experiences for plenty of time to come.

Annual adventure therapy ski trip
TDRC Annual Ski Trip
Every year in February, both TDRC guests and alumni travel to Lake Arrowhead to enjoy a long weekend in the snow. Skiing, snowboarding, hiking and bunking in cabins is all part of the fun. We host AA meetings every evening and exchange gratitude for one another in our G-Circles.
Adventure therapy deep-sea fishing
Deep-Sea Fishing
Every summer, we host our deep-sea fishing trip. This is a truly remarkable experience—in 2017 alone we caught 40 rock fish, 10 tuna, 3 flounder and a reef shark.

Once every few months, The District Recovery Community extends an invitation to our guests to get away for a weekend and be one with nature.
